The Death of Ms. Sheyanne Peacock, Eastman, GA

Sheyanne was an unforgettable young woman: smart, opinionated, resolute, eager to learn, and wise well beyond her 21 years. She had at least two children (ages 5 and 2) --- I know because they were injured in the crash that took her life.

On October 1st of this year --- on a slick road in Dodge County, GA she lost control of her car, hydroplaned, slid backwards into traffic, and then finally off the road and into a tree. She would not survive this crash. How horribly, horribly sad for all who knew her and loved her.

She was such a devoted "Mom" -- talked about her kids in class again and again -- and yet she had such a rich personality and vigor of her own. She embodied life and energy, and intelligence. I remember she was trying to quit smoking -- because "she needed to." She had strong opinions about everything -- life, and drugs, and country living, and being married. At 21 she was just beginning to come into her own; just beginning to test the limits of her intelligence -- and the world. Her death will not and should not be forgotten.
