Dawn's Dreary Light

Much to my chagrin, I have become a morning person. Before the sun, before the first cool pre-dawn breezes -- my eyes open to a grey and unforgiving truth.  I have become a morning person.

It was never something I sought; never something I desired. But it has happened nonetheless.  I have become a morning person.

Are there "perks" to this condition? Does one's life span increase dramatically? Does the body say --"yes, you are doing well; live longer than your "slugabed" neighbors!" "Much longer!" Nope! Nothing changes except you find yourself groping in the dark as you rise; stumbling a bit more than usual because of the shadows in the room; struggling to turn on the damn bathroom light! I have become a morning person.

It was never my fondest dream -- but here it is. I have become a morning person.
